It is with much sadness and grieving that I write you on behalf of the Hurst family, and the Elders of Mars Hill Bellevue.
As you know, our Bellevue Lead Pastor, Thomas Hurst, has been walking through a difficult season with his family’s health. His wife Angela was diagnosed with colon cancer three weeks ago, while also being 17 weeks pregnant at the time.
Wednesday morning Angie went to her first chemo session, but it was met with unanticipated results. Preparatory testing immediately prior to chemotherapy caused concern and postponed treatment. Throughout the day, complications progressed and caused the premature delivery of the baby.
Samuel Thomas Hurst was born at 3:11am yesterday morning at 12 ounces. Thomas and Angela had a few hours with him before he died at 5:09am. Following that time, Angela’s health continued to decrease and she was admitted to Critical Care, where she is now.
After multiple blood transfusions she is now stable, but still remains in Critical Care. Both Thomas and Angie are resting, but the situation remains unpredictable. Please continue to pray for Angie’s health and safety, and for wisdom for the doctors as new treatment plans are developed.
We trust that our God is both sovereign and good. We remain confident that no matter the circumstance, He is in control even when it seems we are facing more than we can handle. And we have great hope, believing that one day in heaven, the Hursts will be reunited where there is no sickness, fear, and death.
The Hursts extend their deepest love to you, the Body of Christ, for your support throughout this trial. At this time, in order to allow time for both recovery and grieving, we would ask that instead of contacting the Hursts directly, you would send any notes of encouragement or prayer to info@teamhurst.org.
